What a beautiful weekend it has been. Yesterday felt like an early fall day...just gorgeous weather. I think the temperature was in the upper seventies. I talked with my brother-in-law up in Alaska, and he said it was negative ten degrees there. What a difference! Our precious friends from Arkansas, the Robbins' family, came to visit us yesterday. We had a great lunch at Taco Bueno (Where else do you take five kids under the age of five!!!), and then we spent the afternoon outside letting the kids run off their energy. Thanks so much Kirk and Becca for coming to visit us. We had a great time, and your kids are so much fun!
Well, I told you a few posts ago that I would let you know about some of my resolutions that I have made this year. Maybe sharing them with you will help keep me more accountable. So, here are some of them (in no particular order):
- Be happy! I want the joy of the Lord to flow from me.
- Be more thoughtful and in tune to other people's needs (With this I included getting better acquainted with our neighbors and being a better friend.)
- Be a better meal planner (Plan meals in advance and try to cook healthier meals)
- Get up earlier in the morning, so I can help get Michael and Blake out the door and off to work and school.
- Read my Bible and pray more (Be desperate for God, realizing that without Him I can't do anything!). Also, under this one I included focusing on teaching the boys more about prayer and Scripture memorization.
Well, there you have it. I have two more, but they are more personal. I realize I cannot/will not succeed at these right away, but I am going to try to work on them one day at a time. I may just need to post my resolutions list somewhere where I can see it daily, so that I can be reminded of what I am striving to do in 2009.
On a completely different note, today is my mom's birthday. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MOM! For those of you who don't know her, she is the most caring, giving, loving person you will ever meet. She is so thoughtful towards her family and others around her. She is an amazing woman, mother, and best friend, and I love her so much. Thank you, mom, for being such a wonderful example of what a godly woman should be like. I am and will be forever grateful for you. Hope your day is the absolute BEST!
One more thing...anyone interested in doing a Beth Moore Bible study? I am so excited about it, I can hardly contain myself! Our church has a lady's Bible study on Tuesday mornings, and on January 13th they are beginning Beth Moore's study on "Esther: It's Tough Being a Woman". I have heard nothing but great things about this study, and I am so looking forward to it. Oh, and there is free child care, too...just in case you were wondering what to do with your kiddos. I believe it is a ten week study, and we usually meet for about two hours every Tuesday morning. If you are interested in attending, just let me know, and I can fill you in on the details.
Love you all lots!
P.S. Michael and I had a great date night on Friday night. We ate a delicious dinner at Red Lobster, and then we went and saw the movie "Seven Pounds". Unfortunately, we did not get to The Cheesecake Factory for dessert, but I do plan on finding out what that "30th Anniversary" Cheesecake tastes like! Have any of you tried it? I may just have to go in and get one to go. My taste buds are watering just thinking about it!!!
